Another great songwriter dies. Billy Joe Shaver wrote some of the best songs for himself and other artists—Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash.

Often accompanied by his son Eddy on electric guitar—Eddy died on the last day of 2000 from a heroin overdose—Billy Joe Shaver wrote songs based on his personal life experience.

His best song ever, in my opinion, was Georgia on a Fast Train. With a rollicking guitar solo by Eddy, that will give any feeling person goosebumps, inspired me to record my own version in the early 90’s.
